Dear Council Member,

As more and more Austin homeowners have become aware of the Energy Efficiency Retrofit Task Force and its initial point-of-sale charge, the mayor has increasingly felt the need to defend his ill-conceived approach.

I believe we should create more incentives for green living and energy-efficient homes, but mandates are not the answer. There is a better way.

I am in favor of the plan presented by task force member Charles Porter and outlined on www.KeepAustinAffordable.org. This voluntary, incentive-based solution will reach more homeowners and help us realize the vision of a greener, more energy-efficient Austin.

Please know that I care deeply about our city, and I’m watching this with great interest.

Sincerely,
